Yard Management encapsulates the processes of optimizing and automating the movement, storage, and flow of trailers and other assets within a facility’s yard.

In this post we'll dive into the Yard Tablet App

The Yard Tablet app is a mobile web browser experience that is purpose built for use by Yard Drivers/Switchers/Jockeys to make it simple to view, manage, and complete trailer movement tasks and Yard audits.

Task Status:

• PENDING: The task is missing at least 1 of 3 required fields (Assignee, Trailer, Destination)

• ACTIVE: The task has all 3 required fields, and is ready to be started

• IN PROGRESS: The task has been started, but not yet completed (or paused)

• PAUSED: The task was paused after starting. This can be used for yard driver to go on break while maintaining ownership of the task, to reject the task (more on this below), or a variety of other use cases 

• COMPLETED: The task is complete, and the trailer is officially in its new destination

• Task Rejection

  • A task can be rejected for a number of set reason codes (e.g. Trailer Inaccessible, Equipment Issue, etc.), or “Other” in which case a comment is required

  • Rejecting a task puts the action back to the person (or team) that is responsible for creating & managing tasks to resolve the issue

    
    

• Completing a task

  • Click Start on an Active task (moving the task to In Progress)

  • Click Complete on the In Progress task to move it to completed
